Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with Dubai Police’s Transport Security Department (TSD), has concluded a training exchange programme aimed at transferring expertise and enhancing the skills of employees from both entities.

This annual exchange programme, targeting Dubai Metro and Tram staff as well as TSD personnel, is designed to strengthen cooperation and ensure the highest standards of safety, security, and service quality across the Dubai Metro and Tram systems.

The programme included intensive sessions conducted by TSD for Metro and Tram staff, covering critical areas such as the early detection of terrorism, enhancing security awareness, risk assessment capabilities, and the proper handling of suspicious items. The training also emphasised practical procedures for managing reports and complaints and provided essential guidance on identifying counterfeit banknotes. These sessions equipped public transport staff with advanced knowledge and skills to respond effectively to potential security challenges while maintaining a safe and secure environment for all commuters.

In return, RTA, represented by Keolis MHI (the operator of Dubai Metro and Tram) delivered specialised training to TSD staff. The sessions focused on essential topics, including rail system engineering, familiarisation with the Dubai Metro and Tram systems, fleet configuration, and train evacuation procedures. These exchanges reinforced operational knowledge and enabled both entities to work seamlessly in managing Dubai’s rail services.

Abdul Muhsin Kalbat, CEO of RTA’s Rail Agency, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating: “This collaboration with TSD represents a strategic step forward in delivering world-class public transport services. By introducing specialised training for the staff of both entities, we are enhancing their expertise and ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and efficiency. This initiative reflects our shared commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence, enabling us to better serve Dubai’s commuters.”

H.E. Major General Obaid Al Hathboor, Director of TSD, emphasized the value of this joint effort, noting: “TSD remains a vital partner in ensuring the safety and security of Dubai’s Metro and Tram operations. Our collaboration with RTA strengthens the exchange of expertise, bolsters coordination between our teams, and ensures that Dubai’s public transportation network remains secure, efficient, and reliable. By working together, we are collectively raising the standard of service quality and passenger safety.”

The collaboration between RTA and Dubai Police underscores Dubai’s vision of prioritising safety, security, and customer happiness through effective partnerships and innovation. This joint initiative highlights their unwavering commitment to maintaining Dubai’s public transport network as one of the safest, most reliable, and efficient systems in the world.
